INDIA’S NUCLEAR WEAPON PROGRAMME

Daily we read about atom bombs and missiles but how many of us know how our own nuclear programme originated. It is an interesting story.
UNO was founded in 1945. Five countries were inducted in to the Security Council who are till date the exclusive permanent members. India was then a slave country. There was only one hope for India to become a member of SC but Churchill’s British Government opposed this move. As a result China, not India got the seat. Five members of SC were: Russia, China, France, U.K and U.S.A. All five first product atom bomb and then hydrogen bomb. Security Council in this way was transformed into an atomic or nuclear club. In 1970, Non-Prolifration Treaty was signed so that no other country should become an atomic power.
On attaining freedom, India understood that to become a world power it had to become an atomic/nuclear power. Indian scientist Raja Ramanna says,” there  was no debate on the issue whether atom bomb is to be made or not, the most important thing was how to make it. Reputation of Indian scientists was low; Western scientists had no respect for the caliber of our scientists . India felt that it was necessary to be an nuclear power to become a part of world deliberations so it became busy in this direction.
The search for atomic energy in India is a strange story. Its beginning was made by a trust owned by Sir Dorab Tata, uncle of Dr. Homy Jahangir Bhaba. At that time, atom bomb was possessed by America only and had already been exploded on two defenceless cities of Japan. We must bow our head to the forward thinking of Dr. Bhaba. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research came into existence on Dec 19, 1945. when India was still a colonial nation. After one year of freedom, Indian Atomic Research Commission was set up by the Government. The Prime Minister at that time was Jawaharlal Nehru who declared that “our atomic power will be used for peaceful purposes and defence of the nation. It is important to make progress in this direction.”
Pandit Nehru kept the cards of atomic bomb close to his chest. He started a wave of non-aligned nations and tried to build up public opinion for the end of atomic weapons. He established a department of atomic energy and appointed Dr. Bhaba as its secretary who had to report directly to the Prime Minister. This arrangement still holds good in India.
We got substantial help from other countries for nuclear/ atomic progress. First nuclear reactor called Apsara is of one megawatt and was given by Britain. The second one (of 40 megawatts) was given by Canada and U.S.A. provided one tonne of heavy water for it. That was called CIRUS (Canada India Reactor U.S).
CIRUS came at a time when international nuclearsanctions were not yet initiated. This reactor was most suitable for manufacturing atomic weapons. Canada and America tried to control it but India defeated their plan. India continued to tread forwards on the nuclear road.
In 1957, Pandit Nehru set up an atomic energy plant in Trombay. Later Indra Gandhi named it Bhaba Atomic Research Center (BARC) Dr. Bhaba was killed on 24 Jan, 1966 in an air-mishap. Quite possible the foreign powers got him eliminated.
Nicolos Kenneth who had worked a lot on America’s first atomic project, once met Pandit Nehru and Dr. Bhaba  at a function. He wrote about this meeting that “Nehru asked Bhaba if he can prepare an atom bomb and Bhaba replied in the positive and added he will need one year to prepare it. Nehru concluded the talk saying you don’t have to go ahead with it till I say so.”
India conducted its first atomic test in Pokhran on May 18, 1974. Like other nations India too declared it was a peaceful test. After this India made several atom bombs and even rockets to carry them. In May, 1998 under Vajpayee government more experiments were carried out. Many European nations expressed anger over these tests. A few days after these atomic tests I had to go to Holland for an International meeting but I was denied visa.
Pakistan too did not lag behind. Without help from Western countries especially U.S.A., it could not carry out any nuclear experiment. Anyway our neighbour Pakistan too got atomic weapons. As a result the possibility of a major war between the two countries was ruled out forever.
Today no war can be won with nuclear/atomic bombs alone. To gain control over a nation, several types of presence is needed in big numbers especially infantry.
We have seen that America and NATO forces could not control Afganistan in eight years despite the use of highly sophisticated uranium weapons. No atom bomb came to their help But there is no denying the fact that radio active materials espeacilly “depletes uranium” have been used freely. It is also possible that mini nuke atom bombs were also used in several places. This is a new inclination/twist in military approach. Powerful countries use nuclear weapons but do not disclose it to anyone. Such news have only came to light by a few disillusioned American soldiers who have proofs also.
India, Pakistan and Israel are nuclear rebel nations in the eyes of international view point because they refused to sign ‘Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty’. Contrary to this Iran does not have any atom bomb and its official policy is against manufacturing and keeping it. It has signed NNPT. All its atomic energy related projects are undertaken under the vigilant international eye. America, Israel and other allied nations intimidate Iran and openly threat invasion. If Iran were equipped with nuclear weapon carrying rockets, it would not be unduly pressurized. North Korea has atom bombs and rockets too so it does not care about threats from Western countries especially U.S. Despite all intentions to invade, America at this point does not dare to touch North Korea.
This scenario suggests that India’s wise leaders placed nuclear weapons in the country’s hands to save it from blackmail and provide fillup to its independence. But if the same nuclear power is used against the neighbouring countries, it can only result in mutual horrible destruction.
To understand and save ourselves from the evil globalist political and military games as well as establish a peaceful and progressive environment with all our neighbouring countries, seems to be the best policy.

THE LAST BONDAGE :
What is the truth of Western Empire? It is nothing but threatening weak nations because of its immense power. In contemporary times the harsh, intimidating attitude of U.S. led West towards Iran is the best example of it.
U.S. and its allied countries mouth water at the thought of endless source of oil in Central Asian countries. On 23th Oct, at G-20 meeting held in Johannesberg, Obama declared “Iran is violating all those rules that other countries abide by. Iran should fulfil the demands of International Brotherhood”. This brotherhood comprises ever willing and ever controlled governments of France, Britain, Germany and Israel. The same brotherhood has created turbulence in the entire world and is responsible for long wars in three countries. It is well known fact that Iran does not possess any atom bomb nor has any intention to make it then why it is constantly under threat of war ?
However, Iran has greatly sinned. It has manufactured a different type of bomb which has attacked the U.S. dollar! America is a bankrupt nation which has forced the entire world to use dollar as international currency, under the threat/behest of its armed force. The biggest trade is that of oil and it is imperative to buy dollars to purchase oil. That is the robbers law. This paper currency of dollars is the source of America’s power. First bomb against this currency was used by Sudam Hussain of Iraq who started selling its oil in Euros instead of dollars. That is why Iraq was devastated and also to gain control of its oil wells.
Now Iran has declared to sell its oil in other currencies rather than dollar. This decision is no less than dropping an atom bomb. U.S. (actually the private bankers that control it) is most perturbed at this development. It may unmask the falsely created dollar dependence. Capitalism/imperialism and its controlling bankers shall not allow this show of rebellion even if Iran has to be attacked. Iran’s days are numbered. Imperialism thrives on its military power and the threat to use it against others. If Iran is attacked the oil business will get a great jolt, set back and country like India would face acute economic recession.
Iran has in a way touched the most raw nerve of America and its financial controllers. It is yet to be seen how it will defend itself. India’s atomic power is a guarantee at this time for the nation’s security that no outsider can attack us. Hats off to farsighted Prime Minister Nehru and scientist Bhaba.
